What do you want to know?
Some frequently asked questions about us and what we do at Explainer.
-
The cost of an explainer video depends on the concept, format, length and level of production involved. Animation, live action and more complex productions all have different cost structures.
At Explainer, we work with fixed pricing, so you know what your project will cost before production starts.
The best way to get an accurate estimate is to tell us what you want to achieve, who the video is for and where you plan to use it.
-
A typical explainer video can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to produce, depending on the concept, format and production requirements.
Our process usually includes concept development, scripting, pre-production, production and post-production. Animation can require more time for design and animation, while live-action production involves planning, filming and editing.
At Explainer, we establish the production plan early on, so you know what happens when and when you can expect the final result.
-
Good question! The best format depends on what you need to explain and how you want your audience to experience it.
Animation works well for abstract concepts, technical products, processes and ideas that are difficult to film. Live action can be more effective when people, places, products or real-world situations are central to the story.
We start with the communication challenge and find the format that makes the message clearest.
-
Do you need to visualise something abstract, technical or difficult to capture on camera? Choose animation.
It gives you complete control over the visual language and makes it possible to show things that do not exist physically.
Are people, products, environments or authentic situations important to the story? Choose live action. It creates a more personal connection with your audience – especially in the age of AI!
We can help you decide which approach is right for your message, audience, budget and channels.
-
A professional video production starts with understanding the objective, audience and message. From there, we develop the concept and script before moving into production.
Depending on the format, production can involve illustration and animation, filming, voice-over, sound design, editing, motion graphics and other post-production work.
We involve you throughout the process and build feedback into the production, so the idea, story and final execution can be refined before delivery.
-
No. You can come to us with anything from a detailed brief to a rough idea.
We can help shape the idea, identify the right format and develop the concept and script. You don't need to know exactly what the finished solution should look like before getting in touch.
But if you already have a script – let’s go!
-
A project can often become a wider set of content rather than a single finished piece. We can create shorter social videos, website content, presentation material, ads, still images, graphics and other formats from the same core idea and production.
Planning for reuse from the beginning makes this much easier. We consider formats, framing, scripts and production assets with multiple channels in mind.
This gives your production a longer lifespan and helps you build a consistent content library.
-
Video is one tool in our toolkit. Our focus is on understanding what you need to communicate and finding the right creative solution.
Sometimes that means an explainer video or a live-action production. Other times, it might mean a new brand identity, social media content, a presentation or a website.
-
You should work with us when you have something important to communicate but aren’t quite sure how to do it. Maybe you need a film, a new website, a campaign, a presentation, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into one category.
-
AI is another tool in our creative toolkit, and increasingly something our clients ask about. An example is AI-generated voiceovers.
We’re also aware of the limitations and concerns surrounding AI. Creativity, storytelling and creative direction still come from us. We clearly disclose when AI-generated content is used, following the EU AI Act.
-
We’ve helped businesses communicate complex ideas since 2013, so we’ve had plenty of time to refine our process and learn what makes a production work.
Our clients seem to agree. In an independent client study by Avara Insights, Explainer received a 9.3 out of 10 customer satisfaction score and an NPS of 87 out of 100, outperforming both the industry average and comparable agencies.
So yes, you can count on us!
